Famous Male Fashion Designers

In recent years men’s fashion has become increasingly popular, and a heightened awareness means that many men are known to be selective when it comes to choosing which clothes to buy, and from which designers to choose from. With many men’s designers tending to have signature looks, this is only helping men to become more distinguished in terms of fashion sense. Of all the designers that exist, which are the biggest of all menswear designers?

We couldn’t go on without a nod (or an Ode) to probably the biggest men’s fashion designers of them all – Mr Giorgio Armani. The Armani brand is considered widely as fashion royalty, and has fast become a household name, synonymous with men’s fashion. Armani’s signature lines and fragrances have stood the test of time, yet the Armani brand is as popular now in contemporary circles as it has ever been.

Another stalwart of men’s fashion is Ralph Lauren. His US-based label started out in the early 1970’s and was originally a luxury brand selling sportswear and apparel for Polo and Yatching. Even today, having diversified somewhat into formal and premium casual wear, Ralph Lauren is one of the world’s largest names in men’s fashion, operating in over 180 countries.

Notable British designers have also dominated the landscape of the fashion world – for decades. Among the most prominent of those are Sir Paul Smith, knighted for his lifelong services to fashion in 2000, who is known for his classic-cut suits with a modern colours and textures. Sir Paul expanded the Paul Smith empire to include formal menswear and casual lines and in recent years even added fragrances to the brands name. Another British menswear design powerhouse, although a slightly left-field choice, is Vivienne Westwood. Having helped to define the punk era by styling the Sex Pistols, Westwood used chains, safety pins and ripped clothes amongst her designs, adding to her signature look. Her designs are popular with many notable contemporary musicians known for their alternative styles, such as Iggy Pop, Gwen Stefani and Karen O.

Other notable names in men’s fashion include designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Donatella Versace, the niece of the late Gianni Versace, who founded the Versace label. All are recognised throughout the fashion world and can be considered alongside other peers of note, such as the late Alexander McQueen, Jeff Banks, Jasper Conran, Heidi Slimane and Jill Sander.

Take Care When You Sell Jewelry At A Pawnshop

Pawnshops have a very liquid inventory. This means that when they buy something from a seller they will give the seller very little money for it, and they will in turn sell the item for a low price. You can get a good deal by shopping for jewelry at a pawnshop, but when you sell jewelry to a pawnshop you will get very little cash. This means that if you want to sell your jewelry, the pawnshop should be your last resort but has its advantages as being immediate cash.

If you think it over and decide that selling your jewelry to a pawnshop is the best route for you to take, there are several tips that will help you to maximize your profits. However, if the jewelry that you are selling is antique jewelry, you should never take it to a pawnshop no matter how much you need the money. If you have jewelry that is a family heirloom such as a watch, you will be much further ahead if you sell it using a local jeweler or an auction site. When you are trying to raise money and the only collateral you have is antique jewelry, you are better off trying to get a loan.

If you are selling jewelry that is not antique, then selling it to a pawnshop can put money in your pocket when you really need it. Before you go to sell jewelry at a pawnshop, you should have an idea of its real value. If you have a diamond ring to sell, have it appraised for carat size and clarity. Have your gold evaluated and weighed. Do not go to the pawnshop until you have an independent appraisal of the worth of your jewels.

At the pawnshop, keep in your mind what your bottom price is that you are willing to accept and stick to it. If you are having a hard time deciding on your bottom price, look at similar pieces of jewelry to compare. When you go to sell jewelry at a pawnshop, you probably want to make the sale that very same day. Still, you will find it helpful to visit three pawnshops that have a good reputation before you decide which offer to accept. If you refuse an offer and then later discover that it was the best one, you can return, stating the quoted selling price in writing, and complete the transaction.

Tips To Help You Become The Best Graphic Designer

To be a good designer in any field takes practice, skill and patience; however, a graphic designer must also be able to work under extreme deadlines and within a well-defined budget, as most of their work is done on a project-to-project basis. The designer must be able to gather feedback from many different sources and turn it into a unique finished product.

In graphic design, the designer must be able to use whatever materials that are prepared for them and stay within the budget given. This takes a person who can listen well, has a flair for color, a good eye for pleasing design and an understanding of what the client wants. In short, graphic design is not one job, it is 20.

Graphic designers typically have a four-year degree, usually in art, product design or art history and are familiar with most computer graphics software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, etc. A good mixture of coursework usually involves drawing, computer art and design.

It should also include any type of specific knowledge, such as anatomy for medical designers, which directly relates to a specific area. It is not a field for the faint of heart, as of the 25,000 people who try to enter the field each year, only about 60% last the first two years and about 30% remain in the field at five years.

There is also the chance of many lean years. A graphic designer may decide they are tired of a lifestyle where they are more like salesmen than artists; constantly having to pursue new clients for work. Or they may choose to become magazine layout editors or as in-house design consultants.

There may be some, though certainly not many that make it in the industry on talent alone. However, most need some sort of a certificate or degree to land a job in graphic designs. Many employers will not even bother to look at you if you lack the piece of paper that shows you have been trained and seasoned by some sort of graphic design related program. Getting a degree or certificate does not reflect your talent, but it does show that you have a good firm base of knowledge and that you take the industry seriously.

So, you have made the decision to suck it up, get past the lean years and work hard to become a graphic artist; eager to use the cutting edge software programs to create some great new designs. It is a great career choice and if you specialize in technology or advertising, then your chances of becoming a good graphic designer increases. There is no better field to get into that will allow you to use your technical skills and creativity to its fullest extent.
